Info Session: Study in Germany

OIA successfully organized the Info Session: Study in Germany, on 2 December 2022, at AAC building, Flamboyan Room, 3rd Floor. The event presented a distinguished speaker, Dr. Guido Schnieders, the Director of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).

On that occasion, he introduced DAAD and gave information about Higher Education Institutions in Germany, the German Higher Education system, the international program offered in Germany, financing, also steps to finish the application submission.

DAAD is a non-profit joint organization of higher education institutions and the German student association. As the world’s largest funding organization for international exchange and education, it promotes international education programs, such as the magister and doctoral program in Germany with scholarship.

According to Dr. Guido Schnieders, Germany, as the largest member of the European Union, currently has around 350.000 international students studying at various universities in Germany. German becomes the most favorite country to study in because it is excellent in research and teaching, has a wide range of courses, which are more than 20,000 courses at 400 universities, has close links between theory and practice, allows students to work during studying, and is located in a safe and economically stable location. The education system in Germany is similar to the Indonesian education system. For the undergraduate program, it takes 3 to 4 years, the magister program takes 1 to 2 years, and the Ph.D. program takes 3 to 4 years.

The application to study in Germany with scholarship, the registration is regularly open every 15 July, for Winter Semester that courses start in October, and 15 January, for Summer Semester that courses start in April.
